Expo 2014 generating interest among US, Pakistani entrepreneurs

WASHINGTON: Organizers of Pakistan American Trade Expo 2014 are confident that keen interest and enthusiasm shown by entrepreneurs of both countries would make it a successful event and contribute to expanding bilateral trade and economic ties.
The Expo, to be held from May 2 to 5 next year, will bring together Pakistani and American entrepreneurs and provide a unique opportunity for prospective businesses to explore and identify potential areas of investment and exports.
“We are striving to make the event unique with mix of business and culture named, featuring exhibitions of wide-ranging products as well as music and entertainment in a way that lends creativity to doing bilateral business,” said Nasimuddin Mirza, chairman of the Trade Expo and owner of Nazu Group America.
In line with the spirit of the U.S.-Pakistan relations, which after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with President Barack Obama, is emphasizing trade and economic dimension of the relationship, the Trade Expo will be a celebration of the motto “Trade Not Aid,” he said.
Mirza welcomed the recent working group meetings on energy and investment and said the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation’s step to double its Pakistan program would help spur business and investment environment.
According to Hasan Jalil, chief executive officer of Invision Media, the extravaganza of food, music and business would provide a grand opportunity for business leaders from both countries to meet, discuss and create new avenues for each other.
“Already, dozens of Pakistani and American entrepreneurs have booked their stalls and officials from the two countries have also confirmed their participation in speaking events,” he said.
