RAHA holds consultative workshops to mobilise local community

PESHAWAR: Refugee Affected and Hosting Areas (RAHA) Programme, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, conducted a series of consultative workshops to mobilise local community in union councils in Peshawar and Nowshera districts of the province.

“The main purpose of the sessions is to engage the community members about their key role in social mobilisation, decision-making, socio-economic uplift, rehabilitation of basic amenities and interventions in the health and education sectors. The initiative focuses, especially on the marginalised segments of the society, in the refugees affected and hosting areas in the province,” said Provincial Programme Manager of the RAHA-KP, Shukriya Syed while speaking at one such meetings in Peshawar.

The official said the collecting information about basic infrastructure destroyed by flash floods and prolonged hosting of Afghan refugees is another objective of the consultative workshops. Besides, she said the village-wise group formation of communities (Needs identification of Community Physical Infrastructures (CPIs), social protection and livelihood, activities, Mohallah, village wise presentation and needs prioritisation will ensure maximum coverage of the programmes intervention.


She said the RAHA-KP programme being successfully implemented by UNDP, with financial assistance of the European Union, in six districts, including Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, Haripur, Lower Dir, and Buner with the active support and interest of local community to address their issues at the community level.
