Govt initiates LNG projects for energy generation


LAHORE: Parliamentary Secretary in the Punjab Assembly Rana Mohammed Arshad on Tuesday said the present government was initiating projects for generating energy from LNG and other available resources.
“The government wants to accomplish low-cost energy projects within its limited resources,” he added.
Talking to this news agency at the Punjab Assembly premises, he said, energy crisis had turned into a grave problem which adversely affected all social and economic sectors including agriculture, education, health and industry.
He said, the government since its inception was fully determined to rid the people of energy dearth. “We have devised a comprehensive energy policy to overcome energy shortage,” he said adding that the PML-N leadership was striving hard to phase out load-shedding within minimum possible time.
Answering a question, the Parliamentary Secretary said, sensing the gravity of the situation, the government had decided to opt LNG projects as cheap source of fuel as its
importance was rapidly increasing in the present age. He said,
PML-N leadership was making sincere efforts for resolving energy issue and the way the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was thriving would help overcome energy crisis.
