Mamnoon Hussain of PML-N secures 309 votes in PA


LAHORE: PML-N Presidential candidate Mamnoon Hussain secured 309 votes in the Punjab Assembly against his opponent from PTI Justice (R) Wajihuddin Ahmed who could get 23 votes while 6 votes were rejected during the polling held at the Punjab Assembly chamber on Tuesday.
Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Umer Ata Bandial was the presiding officer for the presidential election.
Polling for the Presidential Election 2013 started at 10:00 am and continued till 3:00 pm without any break. The members inside the assembly chamber were allowed to cast their
votes after 03:00 pm while the gates were locked for the other aspiring voters after 03:00 pm.
A special session of the Punjab Assembly was convened by the Acting Speaker PA Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani to hold Presidential Election 2013 which was presided over by LHC CJ Umer Ata Bandial.
Provincial Election Commissioner Mehboob Anwar and Punjab Assembly Acting Secretary Rai Mumtaz Babar served as polling officers.
PML-N members Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan and Malik Nadeem Kamran were the polling agents for Mamnoon Hussain while PTI  MPAs Sadia Sohail Rana and Asif Mehmood served as the polling agents for Justice (R) Wajihuddin Ahmed.
Members of Provincial Assembly cast their votes to elect Pakistan’s new president in alphabetical order and PML-N MPA Amir Talal Gopang was the first to cast vote.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakharuddin G Ibrahim would announce the official results as the provincial assemblies results have been dispatched to the CEC by the
presiding officers in all provincial assemblies.
