LB polls: Objections to nomination forms being filed in Punjab

LAHORE: The process of filing objections to nomination papers for local bodies (LB) elections in Punjab is in progress Sunday.

The Election Commission (EC) has also issued initial list of the candidates for LB polls in the province.

According to the EC, 1,63384 candidates filed their nomination forms for 4,028 Union Councils and 172 Municipal Committees of Punjab.

As per schedule‚ scrutiny of the nomination papers would take place from December 30 to January 4.

Appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers would be filed on January 6 and 7, which will be disposed of from 8th to 11th of next month.

Nomination papers can be withdrawn by January 12 and the list of contesting candidates with symbols would be published on January 13.

Polling for Local Government Elections in the province will be held on January 30.
