ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s stance on the Siachen issue is clear and calls for a bilateral withdrawal of forces from the glacier.
Foreign
Office Spokesman, Aizaz Chaudhry said Pakistan wanted friendly
relations with neighbouring India and troop withdrawal from Siachen
should be bilateral.
In a statement issued earlier this
week, Foreign Advisor Sartaj Aziz had called the presence of Indian
troops on Siachen an environmental hazard. Aziz had called on New Delhi
to withdraw Indian troops from the glacier. The Foreign Advisor said
Indian forces were damaging the virgin snow of Siachen on a daily basis
which is one of the largest sources of water to Pakistan.
