England bulldoze UAE in U19 WC


DUBAI: England started their ICC Under-19 World Cup in style on Friday, registering a massive 213-run victory against hosts UAE on the opening day of the tournament. England batted first and put on board a massive total of 315-8. Ed Bernard and Ben Duckett batted well, scoring 93 and 83, respectively. Pankaj Prakash took three wickets but gave away 72 runs in nine overs.

The UAE disappointed the home crowd, as they were all out for just 102 runs in 33 overs. Rohit Singh scored 38 to help his side reach three figures. Will Rhodes captured three wickets.

In another match, Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand by 49 runs. Sri Lanka batted first and scored 275-9 in 50 overs. New Zealand managed 226 for eight in their 50 overs.

South Africa thrashed West Indies by 94 runs. South Africa scored 198-9 in 50 overs. West Indies perished for only 104 in 35.2 overs.

Zimbabwe pulled off a convincing victory, beating Canada by six wickets. Canada batted first and put on board a modest total of 192-9. Zimbabwe steadily approached the target and eventually recorded an easy triumph with 37 balls to spare.
