One type of terrorist gang behind Ulema attacks: Memon

KARACHI: Information Minister, Sharjeel Inaam Memon Wednesday said that a recent seizure of arms and weapons by police have led the administration to conclude that it is one type of terrorist gang that executed attacks on both Shia and Sunni Ulema.

Talking to media men here, Sharjeel Memon said police had seized weapons from terrorists which are exactly the kind used for attacking both Shia and Sunni Ulema.

Commenting on delays in proceedings of cases, he said the counsels of the accused in the murder case of Wali Khan Babar – the Geo News reporter who was murdered in 2011- were purposely delaying the proceedings. He demanded of the Chief Justice Sindh High Court to take action over delaying of cases.

He said two accused have been rounded up for their alleged involvement in a tragic incident that took place in Keamari.

The provincial minister also told the reporters that the Sindh government was in the process of providing bullet-proof jackets and helmets to the police.

He said the bounties for the proclaimed offenders will soon be announced through advertisements and the dangerous prisoners will be transferred to the prisons in other provinces.
