ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Wednesday granted approval to the ordinance for controlling electricity theft in the country, Geo News reported.
According to sources, the ordinance lays down a list of punishments and fines over various kinds of electricity thefts.
Under the new law, which is very first of its kind in the country’s history, anyone found involved in the crime of power theft could face a fine ranging from Rs1 million to Rs10 million and/or 2 to 7 year imprisonment.
