Aafia’s sentence ‘murder of justice’: JI

LAHORE: Jamaat e Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan on Saturday said that 86 years sentence to Dr Aafia Siddiqui without any evidence was the heinous murder of justice by the champions of justice and humanity.

He called upon Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif to press for Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s release and complete end to drone attacks in his meeting with US President Barack Obama.

In a statement issued here, the JI chief said the PML-N had violated all the promises it had made in its election campaign after coming into power, especially the promises regarding Dr Aafia’s release, end to drone attacks and solution to power load shedding.

Munawar Hasan said the bias of the US judicial system against Islam and Muslims had been fully exposed in Dr Aafia Siddiqi’s case. He said the Western media readily linked any terrorist activity in any part of the world to Islam and Muslims. The US was mindlessly continuing the massacre of Muslims under the cover of the war on terror in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, he added.

Iraq was the classic example of shamelessness as millions of Muslims were killed and maimed on baseless propaganda of WMD’s, while in Afghanistan, millions were killed blaming them for 9/11 tragedy but the United Nations and the International Court of Justice did not have the courage to raise their voices against the US aggression.

He said if Dr Aafia could be jailed for 86 years only for raising a gun on an American soldier, the CIA chief, the US army generals and former US Presidents Clinton and George Bush deserved hanging several times for their crimes against humanity.

The JI chief said the anti-Islam and anti-Muslim mindset of the US was a great threat to the world peace, and if the world community did not condemn the US attitude and continued its double standards, the sword of a horrible third world war would remain hanging over its heads.
