KPK police chief vows crackdown on corrupt officers

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief has said that corrupt police officers will be forced out of the department after the holy month of Muharram.
Addressing police officers here on Monday, Inspector General of Police Nasir Durrani expressed his concerns about police capacity to deal with the challenge of terrorism.

“Corrupt officers will be dismissed in three phases after Muharram,” he said.

“There will be no political interference in police. And those found guilty of canvassing will be fired from their jobs,” he warned.

The IGP noted that four policemen who embraced martyrdom in Sunday’s shooting had not put on bullet proof jackets and were standing outside protective sandbags.

“I will ask for explanation from the concerned SHO.
