Maulana Fazl urges govt to initiate Taliban talks

LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that conspiracies are being hatched to thwart proposed peace talks with Taliban.

Speaking to party leaders here on Sunday, Rehman said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has rightly pointed out that hurdles are being created for talks to proceed. But positive thing is all stakeholders are ready for talks, he noted.

He said that talks with Taliban should be held practically, not by media.

“The Pakistani government should hand over a list of its prisoners to Afghan government, which is ready to release Pakistani prisoners,” he demanded.

“Afghan Taliban are fighting a war of independence. Afghan people should take their decision themselves,”
