PUC asks federal govt to start peace talks

MULTAN: Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman Allama Tahir Mahmud Ashrafi on Sunday urged the federal government to start peace negotiations with Taliban. But he said that talks should not be held at Pakistan’s price.

This he said while issuing a joint statement at Istehkam Pakistan Conference held in Multan.

Allama Ashrafi said that government should also keep an eye on foreign agencies operating in Pakistan. The PUC chief said that restoration of peace was not possible without wiping out militant camps.

“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should take the nation into confidence about progress in talks with Taliban,” he demanded.
