Wasim’s book on Perils of Sports Terrorism launched




KARACHI: A book, titled “Dreams & Nightmares: Perils of Sports Terrorism” authored by M. Wasim was launched here at the Karachi Press Club on Saturday.

Former Pakistan hockey captain Islahuddin, ex-chief cricket selector Salahuddin, ex-Test cricketer Shoaib Muhammad, Karachi Press Club General Secretary Amir Latif, journalist Qamar Rizvi and author M. Wasim were among the speakers.

Commenting on the book, that is about terror incidents in sports events and plight of Pakistan sports, Islahuddin said that terrorist attacks held everywhere in the world but unfortunately it is the Pakistan which is the real victim of global terrorism.

Recalling his memories, the former Olympian said “I was the part of Pakistan contingent in Germany when the infamous Munich Olympics 1972 massacre held but at that time neither the Olympics discontinued nor any sportsman left the event in the middle citing security concerns.

Salahuddin complimented the work of M. Wasim that by pointing out on a sensitive topic and asked the international community to come and play in Pakistan.

Shoaib Muhammad termed the book a reference point in Pakistan sports history and said that the author did a hard work in research and compilation of facts in the book.

The book “Dreams & Nightmares: Perils of Sports Terrorism” is third book of the author. It is about sports terrorism, international terror incidents, revival of international sports in Pakistan and global security concerns in sports.

M Wasim, the author, said that unless sports comes in priorities of Pakistan authorities, revival of international cricket and other sports in Pakistan is not possible.

Sports anchor of Geo TV, Naseem Rajput performed the duties of comparing in the evening. He introduced the author as his elder brother. (APP)
