Trilateral conference: Nawaz lauds Turkey’s role for peace in Asia



ANKARA: Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif lauded Turkey’s role in promoting peace in Asia on Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference after the trilateral conference with Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Sharif also applauded the Turkish prime minister and the president for their work for the betterment of Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan supported peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan and it trusted people of Afghanistan to resolve the problems facing their country.

Speaking on the occasion, Turkish president said that 2014 was a vital year for Afghanistan, adding that the state and non-state actors were also discussed at the conference besides other issues facing the region.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai said that TTP chief Mullah Fazlullah and other terrorists were using Afghan soil for activities.

He said that Afghan dialogue process for peace should be kicked off before Kabul signed the agreement with the United States.
