Surging floodwater prompts evacuation calls in Jhal Magsi



KHUZDAR: Authorities directed residents to move to safer places after floodwater entered Gandawa city in Jhal Magsi district of Balochistan.

Deputy Commissioner Tariqur Rehman Baloch told Geo News that water level in Maula River rose after a breach in a dyke, submerging Gandawa city and prompting local authorities to make evacuation calls through mosques.

He said that local administration was put on high alert in the wake of floods. Torrential rains triggered flash floods in different parts of the country, inflicting heavy damages to roads, houses and crops spreading over thousands of acres.
