Four militants killed in Swabi encounter

SWABI: Four suspected militants were killed during an encounter with the police in Khanpur area in Razaar tehsil here on Saturday, a police official said.

District Police Officer (DPO), Swabi, Sajjad Khan said the police had received information that a group of terrorists based in Khanpur were planning to carry out subversive activities in the district.

Sources said the four men were staying at the Government Primary School during the night and it seemed that there was no watchman there.

The cops, the sources said, besieged the school building wherefrom the militants fired at the policemen, who returned the fire. When the firing stopped, the cops launched a search operation and found the bodies of the four militants, the sources added.

The police seized 41 dynamites, four pistols and a bundle of wire after the clash. A case was registered against the militants at the Parmuli Police Station.
