PAC takes up Monetization Policy next week
ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is set to take up the government monetization policy in its next meeting scheduled to be held in third week of the current month and decided to summon the principle accounting officers (Federal secretaries) who ignored the committee directives for providing the details of the cars in their respective ministries pool despite the warnings and reminders sent to them.
PAC last month had sought the details from all the federal ministries and divisions about their car pools after the monetization policy and so far almost all the federal ministries and divisions have yet to submit the details of cars in their pool.
The sources said PAC will take up those ministries which have yet failed to submit the report to PAC regarding the matter. “The report of non-compliance from some key ministries has been presented to PAC Chairman Syed Khursheed Shah and this matter now been taken in the committee meeting with summoning the Principal Accounting Officers (Federal Secretaries) to explain their position before the committee why the details were not presented to the committee and ignored the directives of the PAC,” senior official of the PAC wing told The News.
Sources said after taking over the PAC charge, Syed Khursheed Shah had invited all the federal secretaries of the ministries and divisions for an in-house meeting but secretaries of nine ministries and divisions did not appear and chairman wrote a letter of displeasure on their absence and even sent the copy of the letter to the Prime Minister’s office.
