West Indies captain Darren Sammy won the toss and chose to bat first against Pakistan in the first T20 International at the Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent on Saturday.
Unbeaten since lifting the World Twenty20 title in Sri Lanka last October, the home side were forced to leave out batsman Darren Bravo, who is unwell, while all-rounder Christopher Barnwell was also omitted from the final eleven for this first of back-to-back matches this weekend.
Fresh from a 3-1 triumph in the one-day international series that ended last Wednesday in St Lucia, Pakistan are giving senior international debuts to batsman Umar Amin and all-rounder Zulfiqar Babar.
Of the three Twenty20 specialists brought in for the two matches, only seamer Sohail Tanvir is not playing in this opening encounter.
